Entrance exam rules changes due to coronavirus infection

Due to coronavirus infection spread all over the world Faculty of Pharmacy decided to change the system of entrance exam for the Pharmacy study program. The reason for that is that we realize that travelling is limited in many countries including Czech Republic. Based on this we will give all applicants chance to participate on entrance exam. Therefore, entrance exam will be organized as short oral exam/talk with each student via skype. There will be motivation talk in English and oral exam from Biology and Chemistry. The questions will be based on example test questions that is available on the website (intended for a written exam, which is now cancelled).

The entrance examination dates for skype interview:
Proposed dates for entrance exam via skype are fixed and will not be changed. There will be no other dates for entrance exam. Each applicant will be contacted by the teacher to arrange precise date and time from proposed dates below.

Entrance exam dates:

  • May 18th, May 19th, 2020
  • June 22nd, June 23rd, 2020

Students currently studying at Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove who decide to participate on entrance exam in order to secure their study at our faculty for next academic year (if they fail to continue to the second year, or ISP failing students) will have the same oral exam but they must be presented personally at Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove on 25th of June 2020. The students will have oral (personal meeting) exam with Vice-Dean prof. Nachtigal. The details about time and place will be announced later. Students currently studying at Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove cannot use skype entrance exam.

Admission requirements

The Faculty of Pharmacy seeks students with appropriate academic qualification, good command of English and high motivation to study Pharmacy. 

During the entrance exam, the applicants will be asked to answer 5 questions from biology and 5 questions from chemistry as well.

In the final evaluation of the candidate's success, students will obtain points only for correct answers, they will get 1 point for each correct answer. In case the candidate does not answer or misspells any question, points will not be deducted.

The Dean of the Faculty will set the number of points required for the admission with respect to the number of applicants and students´ capacity of the Faculty.

Documents required for acceptance for studies

All students studying at any University in the Czech Republic must have their secondary school education recognized by the Czech Educational Office.

Recognition of documents verifying a completed secondary education:

  • Recognition of foreign education for applicants to study programmes at Charles University. More information here.
  • Nostrification by the education department of recognition authority at any regional authority (Krajský úřad) in the Czech Republic. More information about this process available here
  • The European Baccalaureate diploma (NOT an IB diploma which requires either option a) or d) - details here 
  • Diploma issued by secondary schools accredited in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, or Slovenia
  • Nostrification in terms of the admission procedure – processed by our Faculty, more information here and here.

Students who receive their final certificate after 1st October have to obtain at least an official letter from their secondary school confirming the completion of the secondary school education, results of the final examination and that the acquired level of education entitles the student to study at University in the given country (country where the university is accredited).

All the above-mentioned documents have to be validated (officially verified) by a lawyer, solicitor or notary public and must contain apostille or super-legalization clause. Apostille is sufficient for countries listed here: Documents issued in countries not included in the list require super-legalization (verification by locally competent Czech Embassy). The documents must be submitted to the Office of Student Support and Services at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Heyrovského 1203, 50005 Hradec Králové until September 30, 2020 at the latest.
