Dear colleagues, dear students,
Let me greet you for last time this year through the "Dean's Bulletin". At the beginning, let me congratulate and thank two of our PhD graduates, namely Diana Dimunova, Ph.D. and Ondřej Horáček, Ph.D., for the excellent representation of our faculty. Diana received the Josef Hlávka Award for her outstanding results achieved during her PhD studies, and Ondřej received an Honorary Mention from the Grant Board of the Grant Agency of Charles University for his excellent research project.
Another great award went to Prof. František Švec, who received the František Běhounek Award. The prize is awarded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for a significant contribution to the promotion and popularisation of a specific scientific field and to the dissemination of the good name of the Czech Republic in the field of research, experimental development, and innovation. I would like to congratulate and thank him for his work for our faculty.
In the project area, we were very pleased with Prof. Petr Pávek, whose project of the UNCE University Research Centre entitled "ADVanced models, Experimental approaches and bioinformatics in pharmacological ReSEsearch (ADVERSE)" was accepted for funding. As a result, more than 10 excellent junior researchers from our faculty will be supported over the next 6 years, in addition to 3 "senior" staff members. The multidisciplinary nature of the centre and its future research is reflected in the 6 participating departments of our faculty and two departments of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove. In the competition of the Czech Science Foundation, this time the faculty was not as successful as we have been used to in recent years. Only 1 standard project of PharmDr. Lukáš Opálka, Ph.D., entitled "Corneocyte lipid envelope: lipid-protein binding mechanisms and barrier rescue in ichthyosis models" went to the faculty, whom I would like to thank and congratulate for this success!
The turn of November and December is traditionally associated with the René Mach Symposium of Clinical Pharmacy, which this year's 25th anniversary year was attended by nearly 300 pharmacists and other professionals in the field of clinical pharmacy. I would like to thank all the organizers from the Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy for the excellent promotion of our faculty and for preparing the traditionally very high quality and attractive professional and social program of the conference.
Finally, I would like to thank all the staff, students, alumni, and friends of the faculty for all the activities for the benefit of the faculty and its development in 2023, wishing a Merry Christmas and a successful entry into the New Year. During the Christmas holidays, I would like to ask students to remember to study for their credits and exams so that they are well prepared for the upcoming exam period.
