Evidence of students and employees

We recall the information obligation in the following cases:

  1. students with confirmed COVID-19,
  2. quarantined students,
  3. employees with confirmed COVID-19,
  4. quarantined employees.

Lifelong learning courses

We recommend that course guarantors consider various options – course start shifts, courses in distance form, etc. The decision on the form and conduct of the course is the responsibility of the guarantor of the respective course/programme.

U3V courses are only switching into a distance form of teaching.

Training centres

UK training centres are closed for sports courses, training courses, orientation courses and other forms of teaching and activities for the duration of the Regulation.

September 18th 2020 - extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health, as the administrative office responsible in accordance with §80 article 1 g) Act No. 258/2000 Coll., on the protection of public health and on the amendment of certain related laws, as amended (hereinafter referred to as "Act No. 258/2000 Coll."), orders in accordance with the procedure pursuant to §69 article 1 i) and article 2 of Act No. 258/2000 Coll., to protect the population and prevent the risk of developing and spreading covid-19 disease caused by the new coronavirus SARSCoV-2 the following extraordinary measure: "I. 1. All persons shall, with effect from September 18th 2020, from 12 a.m., until the appeal of this extraordinary measure, be prohibited to move and stay without respiratory protective devices of airways (nose, mouth) such as respirator, face mask, mouth cover, scarf, veil or other means that prevent the spread of droplets, namely: a) in all indoor areas of buildings, outside the residence or place of accommodation (e.g. hotel room) , b) in vehicles of public transportation.”

Obligation to cover the airways from September 10th 2020 - extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health

All persons shall, with effect from September 10th 2020 until the appeal of this extraordinary measure, be prohibited from moving and staying without respiratory protective equipment (nose, mouth) such as respirator, face mask, mouth cover, scarf, veil or other means preventing the spread of droplets, namely: a) in all indoor areas of buildings, outside the residence or place of accommodation (e.g. hotel room); in the case of school buildings and school facilities under Act No. 561/2004 Coll., on pre-school, primary, secondary, higher specialized and other education (Education Act), as amended, and the buildings of higher education institutions under Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on higher education institutions and on the amendments and additions of other laws (Higher Education Act), as amended, the prohibition applies only to the common areas of these buildings (e.g. corridors and toilets) , ...

Face masks

Please be aware that from 1 September 2020 the wearing of face masks is mandatory at indoor mass events with more than 100 participants. The requirement to wear masks does not apply to lecturers.

Matriculation and graduation

In the event of cancellation of matriculation ceremonies, students shall sign their matriculation oath at their faculty.

In the event of cancellation of graduation ceremonies due to the epidemiological situation, students shall have the option of picking up their diploma at the faculty. Graduates who wish to participate in a graduation ceremony at a later date (as permitted by the epidemiological situation) shall have the option of participating in a graduation ceremony at a replacement date, which will be announced in good time.

Students and/or graduates shall be informed of any cancellation of academic ceremonies in good time.

Information duty

In case of being positively tested on SARS-CoV-2 the students must inform the faculty and the dormitory as soon as possible. The employees must inform the faculty.

Exam period and teaching

No changes are currently planned at University level in the organisation of the exam period for the 2019/2020 academic year, nor in the beginning and organisation of the winter semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Emphasis will be placed on stricter preventive hygiene measures during exams, while students are present on faculty premises.

Students on foreign-language degree programmes

In order to allow all students to start their studies, we have facilitated remote registration through the Study Information System for applicants who have been accepted for study and cannot, for demonstrable, objective reasons, be physically present for registration. Applicants will be informed of this procedure by their faculties.

Charles University shall issue the newly required document “Confirmation of an entity receiving in the territory of the Czech Republic a third country citizen for the purpose of economic activity or educational activity”, which has been required of new applicants for study visas as of 13 July 2020, to successful applicants and send it together with other documents so that applicants have them prior to their interview at Czech embassies.

Dormitories and canteens

From 1 September 2020 all catering facilities at CU will be open. From 19 September 2020 all CU dormitories will be open as normal.

Issuing of CU ID cards

The CU Card Service Centres continue to operate without restriction. As of 3 September 2020 it is only possible to enter the Card Service Centers with face masks.
