The Charles University Cooperatio Program “Pharmaceutical Sciences” (PharmSci) aims to coordinate research activities at 6 faculties of the Charles University: the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové and all five Faculties of Medicine.
The most important priority in the PharmSci research area is to increase in its overall quality, outcomes and implementation of the research results in practice. We aim to further strengthen our infrastructure and capacities for the development of excellence in research and innovation, to substantially extend the long-term cooperation with the application sector, to foster international collaboration in the research, and to make use of the infrastructure both for research and education.
Our key priority is to stimulate and motivate academic and research staff to focus on the outreach of their research. We emphasize quality over quantity of publications.
Another priority is establishing larger multidisciplinary teams that can produce competitive, conclusive, and high-quality research results.
The research activities at the Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy involve all aspects of contemporary pharmaceutical sciences. A wide range of theoretical and experimental approaches are applied to study both new and established pharmaceuticals, predominantly small molecules of organic origin, with the capacity of ameliorating pathological processes in the human body.
For the PharmSci program, the research is organized by following Science Topics and Workgroups. Some of them have been newly established or reorganized in the transition between the PROGRESS and COOPERATIO programs.
Syntheses of potential drugs and studies of structure-activity relationships
Studies of effects of drugs in various experimental pathological states
Analyses of therapeutical value, consumption and need of drugs, and history of pharmacy
Charles University has five faculties of medicine, and the research at the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences involves a broad spectrum of activities within the areas of experimental and clinical pharmacology and toxicology.
The research has been organized by the following Science Topics and Workgroups:
