Dear PhD students of Medicinal Chemistry, Network Members and Colleagues,
We are cordially inviting you to participate in the 4th Paul Ehrlich MedChem EuroPhD Network Symposium organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University in Hradec Králové, the Czech Republic, on June 20-22nd, 2014.
Faculty of Pharmacy, one of 17 faculties of Charles University in Prague, was established in 1969 and celebrates the 45th anniversary this year. Town Hradec Králové is 100 km east of the capital and is easily reached by train or by bus from the Prague airport.
Hradec Králové is a historical town with two dominants The White Tower and The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. From the top of the tower there is a nice view not only on the town, but in a good visibility you can see The Giant Mountains with our highest peak Sněžka.
Charles University is one of the oldest universities in Europe based in 1348 by the Czech and Roman king Charles IV. His statue graces the interior of Magna Aula in Carolinum, which is used for university celebrations and graduation ceremonies. Its main wall is decorated by a famous tapestry with the motive of Charles IV kneeling in front of St. Wenceslas.
An accommodation for all participants is booked in the hotel Alessandria. We do not have sea like Sicily, Spain or Slovenia thus we would like to show you something from our historical places. On Saturday in the afternoon a short trip to the Hospital Kuks will be organized. There is a castle with a chapel and many original statuettes made by Matyas Braun. His statuettes also decorate the Prague Charles Bridge. One part of this castle is our Pharmaceutical museum with a very old and beautiful baroque pharmacy, which could attract you to come.
