Snaha vytvořit prostor pro prezentace vědeckých výsledků postgraduálních studentů a mladých vědeckých pracovníků vedla před lety k uspořádání interní vědecké konference Farmaceutické fakulty UK.
Při příležitosti oslav 50 let od založení Farmaceutická fakulta UK pořádá již 9. ročník Postgraduální a 6. ročník Postdoktorandské vědecké konference (23. – 24. ledna 2019), která slouží jako odrazový můstek pro vědce na začátku kariéry. Konference se sestává ze sedmi sekcí věnovaných jednotlivým oborům doktorského studijního programu.
Již v minulosti několikrát obstarali úvod konference plenárními přednáškami zkušení vědci z Farmaceutické fakulty ve snaze motivovat mladší kolegy a ukázat jim cestu do velké vědy. Stejně jako v loňském roce se povedlo posunout laťku ještě výše. Díky podpoře projektem EFSA-CDN vystoupí v úvodní společné sekci tři zahraniční strategičtí partneři projektu EFSA-CDN - prof. Des Richardson z University of Sydney, Austrálie, prof. Marcela Segundo z University of Porto, Portugalsko a prof. Pavel Kočovský z Přírodovědecké fakulty Univerzity Karlovy. Tito zkušení vědci přednesou nejen výsledky svého výzkumu, ale také se pokusí nastínit, jak jsou prezentovány a publikovány vědecké výsledky na zahraničních univerzitách. Navíc, Prof. Richardson, editor časopisu Biochimica et Biophysica Acta - General Subjects, Elsevier, bude prezentovat přednášku na téma “Jak opublikovat článek v kvalitním mezinárodním časopise“, která bude jistě zajímavá pro všechny. Věříme, že společná sekce zaujme nejen mladé vědce, ale i další členy akademické obce.

Prof. Des Richardson, University of Sydney, Australia
Professor Des Richardson holds the Chair of Cancer Cell Biology at the University of Sydney, Australia, and is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Senior Principal Research Fellow.
He has published 415 articles, reviews, patents, chapters etc., over his career with >93% as first, senior or corresponding author (H-index: 84; >29,900 citations over entire career; with >15,500 citations over the past 5 years and H-index: 56 over the past 5 years). He is Executive Editor of BBA-General Subjects and has served on the Editorial Boards of 43 international journals, including J. Biol. Chem., Antioxidants Redox Signaling, Biochem. J., BBA-Mol Cell Res, Mol. Pharmacol., Pharmacol. Res., etc.As a major translational research achievement, he has developed the anti-cancer and anti-metastatic drug, DpC, which overcomes P-glycoprotein-mediated drug resistance and up-regulates the potent metastasis suppressor, NDRG1. This has led to commercialisation of DpC and the development of the international company, Oncochel Therapeutics LLC, USA and its Australian subsidiary, Oncochel Therapeutics Pty Ltd. Notably, DpC has entered multi-centre Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of advanced and resistant cancer.These anti-cancer drugs target the lysosome via the P-glycoprotein transporter.
Prof. Marcela A. Segundo, University of Porto, Portugalsko
Researcher at REQUIMTE, Portuguese Government Associate Laboratory for Green Chemistry, Clean Technologies and Processes and Professor Auxiliar at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. Her current research focuses on automation of sample treatment prior to chromatographic analysis, and on development of high-throughput microchemical methods. Her scientific production comprises 12 book chapters, > 110 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, with over 2100 citations and h-index 26. In 2016, she received the FIA Award for Science attributed by the Japanese Association for Flow Injection Analysis. Since 2018, she is the Secretary of the Analytical Chemistry Division of EuChemS – European Chemical Society.
Prof. Pavel Kočovský, DSc, FRSE, Charles University, Czech Republic
Pavel Kočovský received an MSc degree (1st class) in 1974 from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Technical University, Prague, with Prof. O. Červinka in the area of asymmetric reactions. He obtained a PhD in 1977 from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB), Prague, where he worked on steroid chemistry under the guidance of Dr. V. Černý and Prof. F. Šorm. He was then appointed to an academic position at the same Institute, which he held for fourteen years (1977-1991). He did his postdoctoral work with Prof. J. E. McMurry at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA (1983-84), and later spent a sabbatical year with Prof. J.-E. Bäckvall at the University of Uppsala, Sweden (1989-1990). In 1991 he moved to the University of Leicester, UK, and in 1999 to the University of Glasgow, where he was appointed the Sir William Ramsay Professor of Chemistry. In 2010 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE). As a retirement dodger he left Glasgow in 2014 and is currently “delocalized” between Prague (Charles University) and Stockholm (Stockholm University). In Prague, he also serves as an adjunct professor at the IOCB.
His research interests span organic and organometallic chemistry, stereoselective reactions, asymmetric catalysis, reaction mechanisms, and synthesis of functional molecules of biological significance. He has published more than 230 papers, reviews, and book chapters, which received over 7,500 citations to date. He supervised over 100 students, among which are a number of luminaries, such as Prof. Milan Pour.
