Dear colleagues, dear students,

Please allow me to address you for the last time this year through the Dean's Bulletin. I can start with nothing else than a big congratulations to Prof. Petr Pávek from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology on winning the prestigious LOREM award in the “Česká hlava” National Government Award. I would also like to thank Prof. Pávek for his excellent representation and promotion not only of our faculty, but also of the entire field of pharmacy. At the same time, I keep my fingers crossed that the drug developed by him will reach clinical practice in the future!
Congratulations and thanks also go to our PhD graduate Youssif Budagaga, Ph.D., who received the Vice-Rector‘s Prize for his project "Establishment of ex vivo and in vivo models of lung tumors to assess the clinical value of dual drug resistance modulators". My thanks also go to the students who represented the Faculty at this year's Benefit Concert of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy students or participated in its organization. It was a truly amazing evening and I can repeat what I said to the students during the final speech - the faculty, and the whole Charles University, can be really proud of them.
At the end of November, the results of the evaluation of the project proposals of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) were published. This year, academic and scientific staff of our faculty submitted a total of 20 projects, of which 5 were successful and will be funded. I would like to congratulate the successful proposers, Assoc. Prof. Petra Matoušková and Prof. Lucie Nováková, and 3 successful co-proposers, Assoc. Prof. Martin Krátký, Assoc. Prof. Radim Kučera and Prof. Kateřina Vávrová, who prepared their projects in cooperation with partner institutions. Overall, the faculty achieved a 25 % success rate, which is a perfect result.
This week, the construction of our new campus celebrated the reaching of the highest point of the construction, so called “glajcha”, in the presence of the Rector of our University and distinguished guests from academic and public life. The fact that one stage of construction is coming to an end can be inferred from the gradually disappearing cranes that have dominated the site throughout this year. I am confident that construction will continue successfully in 2025 and I will be able to report on the completion of each part of the campus in the next Christmas bulletin.
In the next year we will certainly be applying for reaccreditation of the study program Pharmacy, in which we will modify the current system of state examinations, slightly narrowing the compulsory courses and opening up more space for elective and optional courses that allow students to be profiled according to their preferences and focus. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the not always easy negotiations this year and helped the faculty management in shaping the basic ideas and concepts of the curriculum in the upcoming reaccreditation. This work is definitely not over and I look forward to the next steps towards the final version early in the new year.
Finally, let me thank all staff, students, alumni and partners of the Faculty for their work on behalf of the Faculty and its development, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and much success in the coming year 2025.
Quod bonum, felix, faustum, fortunatumque eveniat.

Assoc. Prof. PharmDr. Jaroslav Roh, Ph.D.
Dean of the faculty
