Every year, the start of the semester is associated with the entrance of new students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. This year, for the first time, an adaptation course for the new PhD students was organized in our faculty. PhD newcomers were given great lectures by the vice-dean Professor Štaud, the scientific department, and the experienced students.
This course was covered by various presentations, including overseas travel orders, the Czech Pharmaceutical Students Association, and of course, the grant proposal by the vice-dean professor Štaud and the scientific department. When it comes to writing a grant application, it is important to be able to work with literary sources, and that is where Dr. Barbora Košťálová helped with a workshop on this topic.
The time spent in lectures and workshops was balanced by activities that allowed students to get to know one another. Furthermore, students also learned about the faculty building, older students, the city of Hradec Králové, and Chlumec nad Cidlinou, where they visited the local castle.
The first year of the introductory course has successfully concluded. We are confident that the new PhD students enjoyed the course, and it provided them with valuable advice that will aid them in their studies, as well as new contacts with whom they will be able to develop scientific collaboration later on.
