The Czech Society for Atherosclerosis selected the poster of the author MSc. Ivone Cristina Igreja e Sá, Ph.D. entitled Pharmacologic blocking of IL21 receptor ameliorates diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis as the best poster at the 26th Congress on Atherosclerosis in Brno. The second place went to PharmD. Ester Dohnálková, with a poster entitled Novel ROCK inhibitor attenuates insulin resistance and steatohepatitis in a murine model of obesity-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH). Both awarded students are currently members of the Working Group of Biological and Medical Sciences (Pathology and Pharmacology of the Cardiovascular System), however, both posters were done during the internship at the Mayo Clinic in the USA under the supervision of our graduate PharmD. Petra Hiršová, Ph.D.
The Working Group of Biological and Medical Sciences (Pathology and Pharmacology of the Cardiovascular System) of Prof. Petr Nachtigal, Ph.D., is intensively focused on the problems of endothelial dysfunction, atherogenesis, and liver diseases and the possibilities of their treatment.
