During the 70th Czech-Slovak Pharmacological Days in Bratislava (22 - 24 June 2022), Mgr. Hana Horáčková received the award of the Czech Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology for her publication in the field of toxicology.
In her paper entitled "Effect of Selected Antidepressants on Placental Homeostasis of Serotonin: Maternal and Fetal Perspectives" (Horáčková Hana, Karahoda Rona, Červený Lukáš, Váchalová Veronika, Ebner Ronja, Abad Cilia, Štaud František, Pharmaceutics, IF= 6.32), the authors propose a previously undescribed mechanism by which the use of antidepressants by pregnant women can disrupt placental homeostasis of serotonin and thus impair fetal development. This publication is an important pillar for the study of the effect of chronic antidepressant administration in pregnancy on monoamine placental homeostasis, which the Placenta in Health and Disease research group is currently working on.
