12. Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Charles University

07/02/2022

On February 1 and 2, 2022, the 12. Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Scientific Conference was organized in a hybrid format using the Microsoft Team platform due to the current epidemiological situation. Participants presented from lecture halls at the faculty as well as online from near and far locations. This allowed young scientists who are currently on foreign internships or staying abroad to participate in the conference too. The conference was traditionally opened with a joint section dedicated to partners of the EFSA-CDN project, during which Prof. Des Richardson from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia and Prof. Pavel Kočovský from Charles University presented impressive and motivating lectures. However, both were watched by most of the participants online.

The conference itself was divided into six sections: Bioorganic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Clinical and Social Pharmacy; Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Toxicology; Pharmaceutical Analysis and Bioanalytical Chemistry; Pharmacognosy and Toxicology of Natural Compounds; and Pharmaceutical Technology. Although this year's conference was again attended virtually by only young scientists from our faculty, the number of 120 presentations is comparable with the previous years. The quality of presentations and discussions was always high, regardless of the hybrid format and the number of lectures in each section. Thus, carefully prepared presentations and the work of chairpersons must be appreciated. In the section Pharmaceutical Analysis and Bioanalytical Chemistry, the best three presentations were awarded by the Czech Pharmaceutical Society in cooperation with Chromservis company (Mgr. Dmytro Kosolapov, Mgr. Martin Novák, and Mgr. Dorota Turoňová).

We believe that the conference was a source of inspiration and motivation for further scientific work for all participants.
