The research group has long been engaged in study of the mechanisms of drug resistance in parasites. A newly published results showed that contact of parasitic nematodes with sublethal doses of the anthelmintic drug albendazole (e.g. during incorrect dosing) induces drug metabolizing enzymes (especially UDP-glycosyltransferases and ABC transporters). By this way the parasites acquire ability to more effectively inactivate albendazole in subsequent contact. The doctoral student Mgr. Pavlína Kellerová is the first and the most important author of this publication. We congratulate her and wish many successes in further study.
