A fresh graduate of PhD study program at our faculty, Mgr. Matěj Vicen, Ph.D., published a review article entitled "Membrane and soluble endoglin role in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders related to metabolic syndrome" in the journal Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences with an impact factor of 6,496 and Article Influence Score 1,978. The journal is ranked in the highest quartile (Q1) in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Cell biology.

Working group of Pathology and Pharmacology of the Cardiovascular System led by prof. Nachtigal has been engaged in experimental research of tissue and soluble endoglin in the pathology of the cardiovascular system for several years recently, also in liver pathology. This work has focused on a summary of the working group's results for the last 10 years with respect to publishing articles in the field of endoglin role in the pathology of the cardiovascular system and metabolic diseases such as metabolic syndrome.
