Professor ZajickovaThe second Fulbright U.S. Scholar (the first one was Professor Jarda Ruzicka, University of Washington, Seattle in 2003) is joining the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové for the next 3 months beginning from the end of September 2019.

Professor Zuzana Zajickova received her B.S. in chemical technology and M.S. in analytical chemistry from the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. In 2006, she received Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, USA. Subsequently, she joined Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, USA where she was promoted through the ranks to Professor and currently is in function as Head of the Physical Sciences Department (www.barry.edu). She serves as reviewer for various scientific journals and grant proposal panels. At Barry University, she established separation science research supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). At LBNL, she collaborated with Professor Frantisek Svec, formerly Facility director in the Molecular Foundry, who is now leading scientist in the Specialized Team for Advanced Research in Separation Science (STARSS).

Currently, Professor Zajickova is recipient of the 2019-2020 U.S. Fulbright Scholar Grant in support of her Fall 2019 sabbatical research at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University. As the associate member of STARSS, she will study applications of monolithic columns in supercritical fluid chromatography-mass spectrometry, addressing some of the troublesome separations in proteomics. In addition, with the members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, she will cultivate further collaborations in the field of separation science, share her research, teaching, service, and leadership experience, and exchange views and opinions concerning the study, research, and general organization of universities in USA and CZ.
