Employee Handbook

Social security and health insurance

  • The employer pays social security and health insurance on behalf of employees.

Annual leave

  • Charles University provides its employees (technical and economic employees, operational employees and research staff) with one week of annual leave above the basic amount specified in the Labour Code, i.e. 5 weeks of annual leave in total.
  • Academic staff have eight weeks of annual leave by law.

Personal Development Days

  • The Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy allows employees up to five days for personal development per year.

Contributions from the Social Fund

  • Employee meals

    • Employees who work continuously for at least 4 hours per shift are entitled to a meal allowance. The meal allowance is provided in the form of a tax-free cash contribution for meals.
  • Private life insurance

    • After three years of employment at the University, an employee with an FTE of at least 0.5 statutory working hours is entitled to a contribution to supplementary pension insurance and private life insurance.

Possibility of using the services of the FAFÍK Children's Group (children's group established at the Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové)

  • The Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy runs a children’s group to help its employees and students, but also the general public, to better reconcile their work and private life at the place of employment or within driving distance.

  • The Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy provides its own English language courses at various levels.

Overseas employee mobility

  • Mobility of employees (academic and non-academic) is an integral part of Charles University's internationalisation strategy.

Discounted calls for employees and their family members

  • Offer of reduced mobile tariffs. The offer also applies to data SIM cards for mobile Internet devices.
  • Employees with an FTE of 0.5 statutory working hours and above are entitled to reduced calls (does not apply to agreements to complete a job (DPP) and agreements to perform work (DPČ)).

Work phone

  • Managers and other key employees have the option of a work phone.

MultiSport card

  • The MultiSport card lets you try out a wide range of activities. The MultiSport card can be used in more than 2,700 sports and leisure facilities and more than 500 towns and municipalities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
  • MultiSport cards can be purchased through Charles University (CU) by employees with an FTE of 0.5 and above (does not apply to agreements to complete a job (DPP) and agreements to perform work (DPČ)).
