Current and past research interests:
Detoxication role of the placenta - drug transport and metabolism in umbilically/dually perfused rat placenta and placenta-derived cell lines. Drug interactions with efflux transporters and biotransformation enzymes. RNA interference for functional genomics of drug efflux transporters. Overcoming biological barriers for cancer gene therapy; application of fluorescence microscopy for tracing plasmid DNA and its expression in tumor tissues in vivo; modification of gene expression by steroids in in vitro cell cultures; targeted delivery of macromolecules in the rat in vivo; effect of radioactive labeling on pharmacokinetic analysis of macromolecules; identification of factors controlling liver uptake and hepato-biliar transfer of macromolecules; gene-delivery using cationic liposomes and polypeptides.

Non-research activities: When not in the lab or writing up yet another grant application, I am busy to
entertain my family.
Life is too short to live it only once; so I live it twice. Next to science, I love to travel the world as a photographer for magazines and agents, see www.photostaud.com and www.phototravels.net
