Objectives

The main objective of the Training school is to learn about problems of inappropriate prescribing and inappropriate medication use in older patients in Europe and to become familiar with aspects of discrimination of older patients in this area. The objective is also to develop skills in rational drug use in older patients and to discuss methodological tools available for assessment of inappropriate prescribing and poor medication compliance in geriatric population. Early-stage researchers will learn on advantages and disadvantages of these tools in cross-national EU research and will create at the end of the Training school a collaborative research group participating in future international research works and projects.

By the end of the Training School participants will be able to:

  • state the main problems of inappropriate prescribing and inappropriate medication use in European population of older adults
  • describe advantages and disadvantages of research tools available for assessment of inappropriate medication use and noncompliance in cross-national research in Europe
